To those I have previously sent an e-mail, I have included others I am sending information to as well, so some information you are aware of just skip and read the new information.  The pertinent old information is for the new people who care about Tookie. To All Concerned:      First of all, I am quite motivated and committed to do what I can on behalf of Tookie.  I am appalled at the mere idea that his execution date has been set. This country is filled with many hypocrisies and contradictions.  Tookie was granted a President's Call to Service Award last month and in December has a state sanctioned murder sentence hanging over his head!  In addition, he has been nominated 5 times for the Nobel Peace Prize and 4 times for the Nobel Prize for Literature.  Here is a learned man who is dubbed the "Peacemaker" and the state of California wants to kill him!  It is utterly insane!  Governor Schwarzenegger thus far is refusing to grant Tookie clemency.  What manner of evil befalls to his thinking?      This calls for an ACTION ALERT in the city of Indianapolis, and we must act fast.  Our voices need to be heard.  We must not sit idly by and let this happen.  If we do sit idly by and allow this to happen without speaking out, would not we be partly responsible for his death? As spiritually minded people, we carry the moral responsibility to do something for Tookie.  We must be Tookie's keeper! Therefore, I have provided information about Tookie below and how you can help. Here is information about Tookie thus far: Tookie's web address is Tookie.com.  It is imperative to read the "Petition for Executive Clemency."  His attorneys did a superb job on it.  It is quite moving. In addition to the "Petition for Executive Clemency" read the "Discovery Motion."  You will question why is he on murder row.  He does not even need to be incarcerated! E-MAIL TOOKIE AND LET HIM KNOW YOU CARE!  Let him know that you are working hard for him.  You will find his e-mail address on his web. I have formed an "Indianapolis Coalition to Help Save Tookie."  Ashanti Shakur, President of the Universal African Peoples Organization, and I are leading this effort to help save him.  All are welcomed to become a part of this necessary coalition. Ashanti and I spoke at Indiana School of Law last Friday night.   The movie "Redemption" played by Jamie Foxx about Tookie's life was shown there as well. We discussed what can be done on behalf of Tookie.  We had a nice group of law students that attended. The next Indianapolis Coalition to Help Save Tookie will be held at Ashanti's home, 3840 Emerson #B209 at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday.    We are planning an INFOstration (instead of Demonstration) Day, Save the Children's Day, and a Nationwide/Statewide Day of Prayer.  The dates are November 26th, December 3rd, and December 10th respectively. ****Tonight I have a phone meeting with one of Tookie's attorneys.  I asked Peter Flemings on Saturday evening if he would come and speak at one of our events.  He stated that he is traveling to California; however,he stated that if he cannot make it, he will send another representative to take his place.  I will ask him what would he like for us to do on Tookie's behalf.  The the tone of his voice and his words were filled with much appreciation.  Surely, this must be a trying time for him.   It will be greatly appreciated to have any assistance by anyone for the above aforementioned days.  I am encouraging other ideas as well.  Please pass this information along. Elder Yahakyra Levy from Tennessee called yesterday and asked to me to send information as well as give some instruction as to what can be done for Tookie. So that we may be on the same page, I suggest the following: In what ever city or state you are in, call yourselves "Name of City/State Coalition to Help Save Tookie." The theme of this endeavor should be "In the spirit of the Man Dubbed the Peacemaker." After you have read the information about Tookie and you begin to spread the word about him, address his plight as the innocent Black man dubbed the "Peacemaker" on murder (death) row.  The "Discovery Motion" says it all! Arrange to have at least one, if possible two, events pertaining to him.  If you desire, you may use the aforementioned ideas above.  Please try to have a Day of Prayer.  It would be a wonderful idea for it to coincide with our Day of Prayer since we are endeavoring to make it statewide/nationwide.  This is your own personal choice, but Ashanti and I are going to fast on that day. Look on the web for celebrities especially those who oppose the death penalty and e-mail them to get involved.  Perhaps, one will come to your city to help in your endeavor. E-mail  or fax representatives and senators in your state as well as Washington D.C.  Write or call the White House and demand that the President explain why he has not spoken out about Tookie given the fact that Tookie was given the President's Call to Service award.  Read the excerpt in his award letter found in "Petition for Executive Clemency." Write to the Governor and ask for clemency.  I have attached a letter I wrote that can be used.  If the attachment fails, please e-mail me back and I will just type it. Forward this e-mail to other people you know locally and nationally. Use the web, to spread the word worldwide to all the pertinent continents, Africa, Asia, and Europe.  Get the people from your coalition to divide whatever countries you might target  This is a challenging task but it can be done.  All voices need to be heard.  We are working first to save his life and second to free him from bondage.
